For some time now, I've wanted to be able to offer my patients a book containing concepts essential to well-being. In therapy, we deal with personal issues, linked to our own life trajectory, but we also need to understand how we function, to have a kind of instruction manual for what it means to be human. Each of us is unique, but we all share the same basic fundamentals, a brain and a body, which function in a similar way for all of us.
We are activated by stress, animated by emotions, absorbed by our thoughts and in search of meaning.
I wanted to bring these fundamental notions together in one place, to provide answers that would normalize and soothe the great existential questions:
- Is this normal?
- Can I be happy?
- Am I capable of succeeding in life?
I finally wrote the book I needed.
